I am feeing so fortunate to have these opportunities to view these magnificent mountains and glaciers.
I thought you might like a look at a breakfast menu. In addition to these offerings, coffee, tea, juice, muffins and fruit snacks are available throughout the day in the dome car.
Jasper, Alberta is a town within Jasper National Park. Jasper has a population of less than 5,000. I found it interesting that we were told that there is an application process for people wanting to move there. One of the major requirements is that you have a job there before you move. Retirees need not apply.
It certainly is a stunning location. We had an hour or so to check out this stop.
This gives you a good look at the dome car from the outside.
This is the panorama car that will be removed from the train once we get east of the rockies and it will then join another VIA rail train heading west to Vancouver. They had trouble regulating the temperature in this car and it was drafty and cold. However, the views left me speechless.
Lunch anyone? Yes, lunch for everyone. Breakfast is open seating but for lunch we dine when they call us at about 1:30.
Well after leaving Jasper there seems to be more flat land but still magnificent mountains in the distance.
Railroad ties in the foreground.
We've passed through the Canadian Rockies and are transitioning to the plains.
Now for some dinner options... There are always four choices at lunch and dinner with one being vegetarian. There is one dessert offered at lunch and a choice of two at dinner.
I chose the chicken. It was yummy. I did get a chuckle wondering what my Dad would have thought if he was ever served whole carrots with some of the top remaining.
