Venice, FL to Douglas, GA

Ok some folks may get an email about this blog...  Not sure if you are interested in following our trip but if you are I hope that the email will provide you with the address of the blog.

The forecast for severe weather in FL north of Venice and in GA convinced us to delay our departure until today.  Nothing like starting out two days later than planned.  It did give me time to get in an extra swim in neighbor Betty's pool.  It was a short dip yesterday because I caught sight of a snake in there swimming with me!  Upon sighting it I did the fastest exit I have ever made from water to land.  Allan approached the pool just about as I was scrambling out.  He got his camera and took a picture of it.  If I can figure out how to post pictures on this blog I will post it.

Today got off to a bright and sunny beginning once I got outside our dark shuttered, safety precautions for hurricane season, FL home.  We got an early start departing at 7:14.  We traveled on the interstate through FL and into GA and put 370 miles on the bike today.  The last 50 or so miles that brought us to Douglas, GA were on state roads and we will be making a point to avoid interstate travel as we continue north and east.  Sorry FL but we will have plenty of time to traverse your country roads in the years to come.
