Hampden, ME - Kingston, NH

Our travels south began with a temp of 55 degrees at about 10:00 this morning.  We left from our new Maine home.  Allan is riding his FL Harley and I am riding Rebekah's "Silver Streak" Suzuki... It is a few years older and has a few less extras than my Suzuki, however the engine is 800 cc's and it is a very comfortable ride.  It was no challenge to keep up with "Iron Butt" on the interstate.
It is a glorious time of year to ride in Northern New England.  The trees are a riot of color with their red, orange, yellow and green foliage.  With overcast skies they were not as vibrant as they might have been in the sunshine.  Maybe I will get to check out that theory tomorrow.

I am happy to report that this is the only moose that we spotted today.

Allan and I have a communication system and as long as we don't get too far apart we can talk to each other.  Before we got to Augusta we had decided to stop at the rest stop in Gardiner.  As we approached the Gardiner toll booth the heavy gloomy sky, that we had been riding under, decided to begin to drip on us.  At this convenient rest stop we added our "seal skin" socks, they keep our feet dry, and rain pants.  It was somewhat misty and decided to rain as we exited the York toll plaza.  We stayed on the interstate until the exit for Greenland, NH.  It was nearly 2:00 and we went to the TA truck stop for lunch.  After some very hot tea and tasty lunch we got geared up again and made our way in the rain to Dave and Sue's in Kingston, NH.  We arrived at about 3:30 and it was 59 degrees. I made short work of getting my wet digs off and jumping into a hot shower.

We have beaten our working host and hostess home and taken over their garage for the evening.  We are looking forward to their arrival and to a fun evening with them and their friends Dawn and Rick.
