We decided not to tackle every project ourselves so we hired someone to replace a half a dozen windows.
This included the crank out windows over the sink.
Work continued in the living room with the removal of all the sheetrock that was gunked with glue from the old paneling. We also took down the square ceiling tiles in the living room and sun porch.
And as seen on HGTV Allan found a wire in the wall that wasn't attached to an outlet or switch. He is an experienced wire man. He put in new outlets and got it all sorted out.
Brian stopped by and lent a strong arm helping with the new living room windows.
Jeff and Bill were frequent workers on our projects and offered brains too, not just brawn.
Sometimes you just have to wonder how many tape measures it takes to prepare a piece of sheetrock for cutting.
It's a good thing we had an experienced crew of three or just how would Allan have been able to snap that line just where he needed it.
Sheet rock up and we hired a mudder and were pleased with his final product.
Time for the paint crew. I don't like that the ceilings are so low but it does make for less wall to paint.
Sometimes the hardest part of painting is color selection. I struggled with this but decided on a shade of yellow with white trim.
We had the baseboard radiators replaced with these nifty new radiators. They are a distant cousin to the old cast iron radiators. We had one placed in the kitchen and one here in the living room.
I did some professional development with a couple of schools in southern Maine this spring and fall. While I was away at my final event Allan tackled replacing the rotting front deck and steps.
He did an outstanding job. They provide a sturdy spacious entry.
After the fact... He replaced a couple of cellar windows. Yes, one of which was under the new front deck. As Jeff would point out. That is why you use screws and not nails.
We are very thankful to Jeff and Bill for their many days of labor on our projects. As well as Susan and Brian for lending a hand. We are delighted to have gotten so much accomplished.
While a lot got done the list for next summer is still long. Time and resources will guide what we are able to accomplish. Sure hope we get the master bedroom redone, the hardwood floors that have already been purchased installed and the back steps and deck built... Oh, and all those flower gardens that got cleaned out need to be replanted...
